An Overview of the Alignment of Bilingual Parallel Corpora

Based on wide literature review on parallel corpora,this article first carries out the research on different algorithms of alignment on the linguistic level of paragraph,sentence,clause as well as words in parallel corpora and then analyses their advantages and disadvantages;finally it discusses the algorithms of alignment which are restricted in aligning Chinese-English parallel corpus.It aims to provide a technical basis for constructing small-scale Chinese-English parallel corpora for our research institute.
