The total harmonic distortion(THD) is an important indicator for evaluating the waveform quality of the digital synthesis. It mainly depends on the discrete points of the sine wave in a cycle and the number of the bits of DAC.In this paper, from the perspective of spectrum analysis, the impact of the number of discrete points in a cycle on the distortion is analyzed when the DDS output at the highest frequency and the expression of the number of discrete points and distortion is obtained with the analysis. In addition, the function of Butterworth low-pass filter with different steps is also analyzed.
