In order to accurately register the virtual objects into a complicated and real environment and enhance the real time tracking of three-dimensional(3D) objects in augmented reality system,a 3D visual registration method based on triangular pattern marker was proposed.Through an edge detection method, the triangular contour of a marker in the captured video image was extracted, and the data of triangular vertices were obtained. Moreover, the homography matrix was calculated according to these data, and the camera parameters were derived. And thus, the camera calibration was realized. The real time tracking of the detected target was performed with Camshift algorithm. The experimental results show that the object can be accurately registered onto the tracked target of a physical video image. The registration efficiency of the proposed method is superior to that of ATRToolKit software.
