Semantic Function and Syntactic Property of Number Classifier Phrase after Verbs

Jian Zhang · Hanyu xuexi · 2008

This paper discusses syntactic property of number classifier phrase after a two-valence-verb sentence from semantics function. It points out that their semantic functions are measured by the action or the time and the space of the central matters with action, and this structure is a method to indicate Chinese predicator number classifier feature, so it is declaration but not reference. Therefore it can be used not only as complement but also as predicate. At the same time, because the categories are different, the declaration capabilities will be strong or weak, which also limits the capability to be used as predicate.
