Research and implementation of image retrieval system based on dominant color of partition

Color histogram is the most usually used method of content-based image retrieval.In order to solve the problem of lacking the spatial knowledge of color histogram,an approach of image retrieval based on dominant color of partition was presented.Meanwhile,reduced quadratic form distance method was applied to decrease arithmetic complexity,which improves computational efficiency and precision to measure similarity of images.Thus the retrieval efficiency increases.Experimental results of the image retrieval system implemented based on this approach show that precision and recall are improved apparently compared to those of color histogram.
