The article-input tests show that wubi group had faster input of Chinese characters and more graphic-code errors while pinyin group had slower input and more pronunciation-code errors. The analysis of errors show that wubi group tended to notice pronunciation errors while overlook graphic ones, and pinyin group tended to note graphic errors but overlook pronunciation ones. The result of theme writing indicates that wubi group had inputted significantly more propositions and letters than the pinyin group. The study shows that,on condition that user is equally familiar with both of the input methods, wubi typewriting method is cognitively more efficient than Pinyin typewriting method.
