Design of low phase noise and low spurs short-wave frequency source

Yang Qing-f · Journal of Magnetic Materials and Devices · 2015

With the help of HMC830 integrated with broadband PLL, a miniature, low cost, low phase noise and low spurs frequency source used in short-wave receiver is designed. Low phase noise is realized by configuring the registers with reasonable settings, a differential Butterworth filter is added at the output port to reduce spurs, suppress common-mode interference and even order harmonics, avoiding single-ended component parasitic effects. Frequency source designed features frequency range of 30MHz to 120MHz,step of 1kHz,phase noise≤-120dBc@10k Hz,spurious reduction of higher than 90dB,and size of only 5×4cm.
