In wireless Ad Hoc networks, data are always transferred through multiple hops before reaching the destination. Hence, relay selection becomes very important to source node. Typically, traditional relay selecting scheme chooses the node which has the best channel state as its relay from all the neighbor nodes. Utilizing the broadcast property of wireless channel, an STBC-based (Space Time Block Coding) cooperative relay scheme with two relay nodes is given in this paper. Then, a finite Markov model is used to analyze the performance of the network. Numerical results indicate that the proposed scheme outperforms the traditional single relay method. The performance index such as BER, throughput, end-to-end delay and dropping ratio are considerably improved.
