Fast algorithm of sub-pixel motion estimation based on AVS

Variable block sizes and quarter-pixel motion estimation are applied in audio video coding standard(AVS) to improve coding efficiency.For motion estimation has high calculation capacity,an improved fast search algorithm is presented for sub-pixel,which mainly uses the sub-quadrant prediction strategy,and terminates the search through a threshold.This algorithm reduce the sub-pixel search points effectively.Compared with the sub-pixel full search algorithm of AVS reference software,this algorithm can achieve up to 50%~81.25% searching points reduction and save the encoding time by 25.36%~34.51% while maintaining the image quality and coding efficiency.
