A Fast and Efficient Fractal Image Compression Method

A fast and efficient fractal imge comprssion method based on variance is introduced in this paper.The whole encoding scheme is as follow:first of all,finding the best domain block whose variance is closest with range block’s variance,and search the matching domain block in the left and right adjacent of the best domain block.If the matching domain block isn’t find which satisfy the preconcerted precision requisition,then encoding the range block with the four-value BTC method which is improved in this paper.The experimental results demonstrate that this encoding scheme can considerably shorden the encoding time method,proved the rationarity and excellence of the hybrid method.
