The paper proposes an improved cross search algorithm, considering the direction of moving vector. The algorithm designs a directional search pattern, and adopts a series of skills, which are composed of prediction of initial search point,half-stop criteria, search pattern and auxiliary search points to reduce search points.Extensive experiments conducted based on the H.264 encoding platform show that the improved algorithm can increase the searching-rate while keeping the similar PSNR.
