Method for formal ontology description and its application

This paper presents a description method for formal ontology, which is based on the analysis of the concept and character of ontology and the practical application. In this method, ontology is abstractly regarded as two parts, the outer part and the inner part. The concept and relationship of the ontology is declared in the outer part and its semantic is described in the inner part. A simple inference model is also built for ontology. According to this description method, a system model using XML(Extensibble Makeup Language) and a concrete application example is presented, which shows that this method is feasible.
