A Solution of WebGIS Based on ActiveX

WebGIS is the combination of network and GIS.This paper mainly introduces ActiveX and its development tools,and puts forward a model of WebGIS based on ActiveX.Then,it summarizes the implementation of ArcIMS based on ActiveX,and finally,it puts forward a solution to WebGIS based on ActiveX,and developments of ActiveX component via VB,and implements the interface with ASP on ArcIMS platform.This solution has a good platform-independent quality for the client,and has advantages in building the website,so it is appropriate for developing medium and small-sized WebGIS.
