Energy Consumption Analyses and Improvements of S-MAC in WSN

Sensor MAC (S-MAC) is a MAC protocol for WSN. This paper analyses energy consumption of nodes based on S-MAC detailedly,consequently educes how the factors of working nodes make effect on energy consumption. This paper proposes the concept of node utilization,for its energy efficiency but increasing latency and uniform duty-circle for the WSN nodes not to adapt the change of network .The results indicate: these improvements make the balance of consumption and latency ,consequently S-MAC was optimized.
