THE DESIGN AND REALIZATION OF MAP SYMBOL DATABASE BASED ON ARCGIS

One of the functions of GIS is automatic mapping and the map is the main style to understand the spatial data. As a main method to express the map,symbols are much more important. But the symbols in ArcGIS cant satisfy the need. So a new symbol database should be designed.This paper introduced its method, and depicted the detail of different kinds of symbols.
