OPC-based Plant Information Management System for Distributed Control System

This paper presents the principles and methods of OPC,and the function and application of the OPC specification in the plant information management of CIPS.Then the plant information management system based on OPC is designed.And data communication between DCS system and management network is implemented by using OPC.It illustrates the implementation of OPC Client.The results indicate that the plant information management system based on OPC breaks the separation of management network and DCS control network.Consequently the manager can know the operation of the field of DCS system in time and make more optimum decisions.
