Design of Adaptive Flash Translation Layer for NAND Flash

NAND flash memory has been one of the dominating solutions for the storage of mass data on spacecraft because of its non-volatile,shock-resistant and power-economic advantages.In flash-based storage systems,an intermediate software layer called Flash Translation Layer(FTL) is employed to hide the erase-before-write characteristics of flash memory.By providing different address translation methods according to access patterns,the advantages of NAND flash are utilized and I/O performance of flash-based storage system is increased.The method is implemented in embedded Linux and performance evaluation is carried out on it.
