Theory and Practice of Relationship of Gong and Jiao

In the old theory of Chinese traditional modes of music, mode scales and modulation, the relationship between Gong and Jiao (major third) has been expounded. At present, as a principle and technique it has penetrated into the modern music composing practice and theory research, with the quality and style of pentatone. In addition, the formation and establishment of the theory three-gong mode series in one-yun tone system also depend on it. As a result, the relationship between Gong and Jiao (major third) is proved to be dominant in the identification and establishment of our national modes.
