Mismatch negativity(MMN) is a kind of event-related potentials elicited by the deviant of auditory stimuli in the absence of attention, which makes it an objective measure of sensory memory, stimulus change discrimination and the brain's automatic information processing.MMN may be widely used in cognitive neural science and clinical practice.Unfortunately, the serious poor signal-to-noise ratio keeps MMN from applying in the clinic and research. This paper discusses some critical issues about experiment design,signal-to-noise ratio and signal processing associated with MMN.The proper procedures that should be taken in the future research are suggested.
