On Meaning and Interpretation of Probability p in IRT model

Item response theory describes the relationship between the latent trait of an examinee and the item characteristics.And the node of the relationship is probability p some examinee answers some item correct.The interpretation of p,especially the methodology foundation in defining it,is a very basic question in IRT,and to understanding this is significant to both the development of theory and practice of IRT.This article elaborates this question based on prior research,and makes it more easily to understand from the view of philosophy,to stress its heuristic value to theory and practice of IRT.
