Application of XML in multidimensional modeling of OLAP

XML has become the standard format for representing structured and semi-structured data. To (describe) the structure and content of XML data, several XML schema languages have been proposed. The article begins with a brief introduction of the characteristic and document format of XML. After that, it describes the steps of defining and recording the metadata in multidimensional modeling. At last, it presents a method of designing and implementing the multidimensional modeling tool in a general OLAP tool-KDOLAP.
