A New Method of Speech Packet Transmission to Reduce the Influence of Speech Packet Loss
Yang Zhen · Journal of Nanjing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications · 2002
There exists the possible speech packet loss in IP and ATM networks based on the packet transmission, which may cause QoS degradation in realtime speech communications. To reduce such degradation, a new method based on the main and subodinate multitask speech packets (MSMTSP) is presented in this paper. Experimental results show that there is only a little reconstructed speech impairment if 15% speech packets from the enhanced system are lost, and that we may hardly perceive and clearly perceive the influence on received speech quality if less than 5% and up to 10% speech packets from the main codec are lost respectively, and perceive the obvious QoS degradation as the speech packet loss goes up to 15%. However, in the last case, the intelligibility is not affected.
