An Active Power Filter and Its Simulation

Based on the analysis of the process of energy exchange between the DC- and AC-side of the shunt active power filter 〔1〕 , the model of one kind of 3-phase active power filter (APF) is built by using approximately the PI regulator. Then the simulation is performed using PSPICS for 3-phase symmetrical- and unsymmetrical-load. The simulation results show that this kind of APF is quick in response and stable to load current changes when modeled approximately by PI regulator.
