Key techniques in risk assessment of flood defense system

The framework and contents of risk assessment on flood defense system are presented based on international experiences and domestic practices. Several problems affecting its application in practice are discussed, including assessment method of failure probability, characterization of disaster and structure properties and parameters acquisition of random variables in the evaluation of reliability, the calculation of total risk index of flood defense system, application of reliability evaluation and risk assessment, establishment of risk standard. State-of-the-art in these aspects are introduced and future research topics are suggested.Research achievements and deficiency on these topics are discussed. Future research orientation is pointed out on risk assessment of flood defense system.
