Modeling Two-Windows TCP Behavior in Differentiated Services Networks

Zhen Fan · Mini-micro Systems · 2005

In this paper, an analytical model is developed to calculate the throughput achieved by individual two-windows TCP flows in a DiffServed network. The model characterizes two-windows TCP throughput as a function of contract rate, packet loss rate and round-trip time. Extensive simulations validate the model. Experimental results also show that two-windows TCP is effective on solving the bandwidth guarantee and fairness issues, and its performance is robust to variations of bandwidth subscription and configurations of network parameters.
