Aiming at present situation that digital image encryption algorithms mostly adopt a low dimensional chaotic system, the key space is small and sequence complexity is not high enough, thus the encryption system is not so secure, propose a new encryption algorithm for color image based on hyperchaotic systems.Firstly, separate the RGB three basic colors from the original color image.Secondly, scramble pixels position using Lorenz chaotic sequences. Then, diffuse pixels value using the final key sequence diffusion pixel value generated by Chen hyperchaotic sequences which is related to plaintext, which make the algorithm sensitive to plaintext.Performance test and security analysis are performed on key space, pixels distribution character, correlation coefficients, the ability to resist differential attack and key sensitivity test. Results show that the proposed algorithm is secure and high efficient, and has huge application potential in image secure communication.
