A method of point cloud simplification

The 3-D data points gotten by the laser scanner equipment should be pro-processed in order to reduce the redundant points,because large numbers of data points will bring a burden of computation and store to the computer and influence the work of surface reconstruction further.This paper offers a criterion that describes the distribution of the local data points near the tangent plane with the restricted center,and gives a new method to reduce the redundant points.
