Determination of the worst operating condition of overtopped cofferdam

The standard of river diversion during construction is one of decisive factors affecting economy and security of diversion,at the same time it is reference of training works size design,so diversion standard is critical to embody economy and technique policy in hydraulic and hydroelectric projects.Overflow earth-rock cofferdam is broadly used for its indigenous materials and low cost.Based on former results,actual observational data and Tanken hydropower station hydraulic structural model tests,the factors affecting the operating condition of earth-rock overtopped cofferdam are systematically analyzed.A method was worked out for measuring the worst operating condition and determining the worst discharge of overtopped cofferdam during construction stage.
