High Frequency(HF) channel is time-varying multi-path fading channels involving multi-path fading,Doppler frequency shift and spectrum spread.Based on the usually used Watterson model,an improved software channel simulation is proposed. The time delay and frequency shift of each propagation path are both modeled as Gaussian random variables, making the improved Watterson model applicable to more HF propagation channels with larger bandwidth. Then the delay power profile of wideband HF model is sampled and added into the channel simulation and a dynamic software simulation of wideband HF channel is implemented using the tapped delay line structure of Watterson model. The new model is implemented by a Matlab program and proved to be valid. The proposed model of HF channel can easy to be implemented in real-time hardware channel simulator.
