Ontology-Based Concept Semantic Similarity Computation and its Application

WU Jun-hua · Microelectronics & Computer · 2008

Semantic similarity computation of the concept is an important component of natural language processing research. It is also a problem urgent to solve in the fields of artificial intelligence. As a clear and formal definition of shared conceptual model, ontology has brought new animation to the concept semantic similarity computation. So I presents a method of semantic similarity computation between concepts based on the ontology, considering the factor of semantic distance, nodes depth and nodes density, and also add an adjustable parameter to adapt to the flexible application in different circumstances. At last, the paper briefly introduces the application of semantic similarity in the domain of search engine.
