Next Generation Networks (NGN) is based on the packet networks. NGN can integrate voice service, data service and video service , satisfy the demand of diversification and individuation, and realize the interwork of different networks (such as PSTN/ISDN, PLMN, IN, Internet). Nowadays, nearly all the technology of the NGN is maturation. But, there are not many kinds of terminals to cater for the character of NGN in the market. Based on the character of next generation networks, an intelligent terminal for next generation service is designed. The hardware structure of intelligent terminal is describe d and new Digital Medial Processor-TMS320DM642 of Tl Company is presented in detail.
