Color Image Coding Method Based on Wavelet Transform

This paper extends the image coding method based on Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Trees (SPIHT) to color image coding, and analyzes the coding results of color images in RGB space and YUV space using SPIHT coding method. From the theoretical analyses and simulation results, it can be found that the compression rate and decoded image quality in YUV space is higher than that in RGB space. Compared with the fractal coding compression results, the coding method based on SPIHT is better than fractal coding method.
