Fuzzy recognition model and its application in assessment of natural calamity

Natural calamity is a comprehensive result of many fuzzy facts, and fuzzy theory and method are powerful tool to assess natural calamity. This paper suggests using fuzzy recognition model to assess natural calamity, and takes flood calamity as an example. The result is compared with that of grey relating degree model, and the conclusion is that the result of fuzzy recognition is more objective and reliable.
