The CHILDES Corpus: Coding With CHAT

This paper describes the basic coding and operating principles of CHAT for the CHILDES talkbank, a valuable corpus for studies on spoken English and language acquisition. It is aimed at promoting the use of CHILDES as a reference for constructing an EFL spoken corpus in China.
