Seed threshing methods and conditions of Closed cone of Pinus banksiana

Cone of Pinus banksiana falls into two types - closed and split-up, closed cones don't split up for many years on trees. In this paper, experiments on seed threshing methods and conditions of closed cone were conducted by using two methods, namely, degrease via reagent soaking and drying via temperature-control drier. The results showed that the effect of degrease via reagent soaking method on split-up of cone was unremarkable; scales of cone split up evenly and germinating rate of seeds was high when the heating temperature of temperature-control drier was 300℃ and time lasted 27 seconds; the effects of other treatments were not so well.
