Improved Active Contour Model for Concave Contours

The problem of dismatching concave contours in traditional active contour model is studied,with an analysis of both internal and external energy.By replacing the elastic energy term from the internal energy,inspirited by fluid pressure,an improved active contour model for concave contours,Area Snake,is proposed and its theoretic model,implementation and insufficiency are discussed.Experimental result show that Area Snake has good performance in matching concave contours.
