Analysis of energy consumption for diversity transmission on ARQ Proto- cols in wireless sensor networks

Jietai Wang · Computer Engineering and Applications Journal · 2009

In this paper, transmission energy consumption of MIMO(Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) diversity and cooperative SIMO(Single-Input Multiple-Output) diversity is researched for ARQ protocols on the equivalent energy consumption model per bit in wireless sensor networks.By means of mathematics and computer simulation, the comparison is made between diversity transmission and no-diversity transmission for energy consumption. The results show that energy consumption of MIMO diversity transmission is high, but it of cooperative SIMO may be lower than no-diversity transmission. The lowest energy consumption is related with frame error ratio.
