An efficient algorithm for mixed noise filtering

An algorithm for mixed noise filtering is presented based on analysis of noise characters and image structure.First,impulse noise detection is conducted.A pixel is determined as an impulse noise and removed by median filter if it has a minimum or maximum value in the filter window and has poor compatibility with its neighbors.Then a fuzzy filter is adopted to remove Gaussian noise.Experiment results are given at last.The algorithm can remove mixed Gaussian and impulse noise efficiently while protecting image details.
