A novel vector median filter based on the component-wise noise detector,is proposed to improve the switching vector median-based filter to preserve image trivial details while effectively suppressing impulsive noises. The main difference between the proposed filter and the classical vector-based filters is that the filtered output value of each color component is calculated separately according to the results of component-wise noise detector. The proposed filter can preserve untaminated color component in the piexel as far as possible and further improve the filtering effect.Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed filter outperforms the other vector median-based filters significantly.
