Research and Implementation of Character-based Full-text Retrieval

This paper provides fast index creation method for character-based Chinese full-text retrieval system and efficient index compression method according to the character of Chinese documents. The test results show that the index creation time can be saved greatly by using virtual memory and the byte aligned compression method can not only reduce the disk space needed by index files, but also speed the search process. The index efficiency of space and time is improved by these methods.
