Performance of UEP based MIMO scheme for LDPC codes

The unequal error protection(UEP)property of low density parity check(LDPC)codes is studied by Gaussian approximation(GA)and an efficient scheme for LDPC coded multi-input and multi-output(MIMO)system is presented.In the scheme,important bits with large degrees are transmitted in transmission diversity(TD)mode streams and bits with small degrees are mapped to the spatial multiplexing(SM)mode streams.By offering more protection to the important bits,this scheme provides significant throughput gain compared with random mapping method with which the bits are randomly mapped to the streams.Simulation results show that the optimal mapping results are almost the same as the fractions suggested by this scheme.
