Design of Small Comparable Corpus and its Use in Translation

Since 1990's,corpus linguistics has been applied to translation studies,contributing a lot to both translation theories and translation practice.However,most corpus-based translation studies,taking parallel corpus as their object,are confined to the analysis of words and grammatical pattern of the target text,while the macro textual structure of the text is scarcely mentioned.Therefore,it is necessary to build up translation oriented bilingual corpus of original English Chinese texts,with consideration of both the schematic structure and micro linguistic features of texts.Such corpus that is made based on the theory of genre analysis in terms of text selection and annotation may provide effective reference for the practice of pragmatic translation practice.
