Domestic and Foreign Research Review on the Methods of Converting Thesauri into Ontology

Thesauri corporates rich vocabulary and inter-words relation,so reusing it can improve the efficiency of constructing the ontology greatly,and also reduce the cost.Firstly,based on a comprehensive analysis of programs and methods of converting the thesauri into ontology,this paper classifies the different methods.Secondly,the thesis analyzes the characteristics of each method in terms of the characteristics of thesauri,the process of converting and the ontology.Thirdly,the thesis summarizes the common characteristics of various kinds of converting methods.Finally,the thesis raises a suggestion that we should choose the method of converting the thesauri into ontology according to the applied requirements of ontology as well as the characteristics of the thesauri.
