A New Method to Detect Hovering Helicopter

The radar echo of a helicopter rotor is modeled and analyzed theoretically at first, then a new method is proposed to detect hovering helicopter by using low-pass filter and multilevel hypothesis examination. Theoretical analysis and simulation experiments prove that the method is simple and practicable, it can resolve the detection problem of hovering typical helicopters with airborne phased array radar under low signal to noise ratio (SNR) background.
