The Research for Standardization of Hydrographic Metadata

At first, the definition of geo-metadata is introduced according to ISO/TC211 and the research of international standardization for geo-metadata is put forward.The meta-object of electronic chart which made by IHO is also presented.The status of digital chart metadata in China is analyzed.The necessity and the feasible method of building hydrographic metadata standardization system are discussed based on the covered scope, catalogue/classification and description at last.
