The networked smart sensor is developed combining the sensor technology with the network technology, and the IEEE 1451 standard of the networked smart sensor is published. With development of these technologies and need of applications, the wireless networked smart sensor is proposed now. In this paper, the background and researching status of the wireless networked smart sensor are introduced and its technological feasibility is analyzed. A project of the wireless networked smart sensor based on an embedded networked module is designed for robotic gripper.
