Study on the relationships between cone yield and growth factors of individual plus tree in Pinus koraiensis plantation

Zhang Jing-gen · Liaoning Forestry Science and Technology · 2010

In order to discuss the effects of growth factors on cone yield, cone yield and growth factors (DBH, tree height, crown width, etc.) of individual plus tree in Pinus koraiensis plantations of 5 tree-ages from 30 to 80 years in Caohekou areas were investigated. Analysis of the relationships between growth factors and cone yield by using grey correlation methods was conducted. The results showed that 3 factors correlated with cone yield quantities were in the following order: tree height, DBH and length of lateral branch. Therefore, besides cone yield ability, tree height, DBH and length of lateral branch were important basis for selecting plus tree of cone yield type of Pinus koraiensis.
