Model of information system for water environment management based on "3S" technology

Lack of the water resources,increasing contamination of water and worsening of the water environment are global problems. In this paper,the present situation of the water environment in China is analyzed, and the model of information system for water environment management is established based on the technology of geographical information system(GIS),remote sensing(RS),and global positioning system(GPS),which is called 3S technology. The hardware and software compositions of the information system are introduced,and the functions of the basic modules of the system are analyzed. The results are important for consummating the national information system for water environment management.
