the theory and characteristic of fuzzy set and rough set have been respectively introduced and compared,and merit and the shortcoming of the two theories are discussed.By combining the two theories,the nature and the application of the fuzzy rough set,the rough fuzzy set and the rough membership function are analyzed,the upper and lower approximation of the rough fuzzy set is defined by introducing variable Precision.
