Progress of research on infrared image face recognition

Application future and difficulties of infrared face recognition are given.Character of infrared face recognition is described.The update-to-date research and practice of infrared face recognition in recent years are surveyed.Four main method of face and disguise detection using the infrared spectrum,face recognition using thermal infrared imagery,SVM-based infrared image recognition of human face and infrared face recognition based on linear discriminant analysis are elaborated and they are compared and analyzed.Finally,the potential research directions of infrared face recognition are discussed.
